Frequently Asked Questions
How do Broussard's food items stand out above traditional wedding fare?
Our wedding fare is a reflection of our historic identity as one of New Orleans dining’s Grande Dames. It is based upon our restaurant’s current a la carte offerings prepared by our kitchen; rather than generic items served by a caterer. It is a direct reflection of our city’s rich culinary tradition, and the historic setting in which it is served.
What food items are offered for weddings?
We offer a variety of tray passed hors d’oeuvres, food stations, including action stations with chefs preparing the item on site or carving the meat.
Do brides have menu options?
Yes, we offer suggestions but brides are welcome to mix and match our menus or work with our sales office to consult with our chef to offer other selections.
What is the chef's inspiration for composing the wedding menu?
It would be difficult not to find inspiration in the romance of Broussard’s storied past, from the marriage of Joe and Rosalie at its naissance, to the wonder of the century old wisteria which has witnessed generations of ceremonies beside the fountain of our French Quarter courtyard. My inspiration is the importance of the charge I have inherited and the legacy of Joe Broussard, Nathaniel Burton, and all of the talented chefs who have overseen its kitchen almost nine decades before me.
Do you do food tastings? If so, are they individual or group tastings?
Yes, we do individual tastings for each couple and customize the tasting with his and her preferences.
Do you offer buffet style? Sit down dinner?
We can do both but our main focus for a wedding reception is buffet or “reception style” as we say in New Orleans.
Do you offer a pastry chef to do wedding cakes?
No, we do not offer wedding cakes. The bride is welcome to bring in a cake from a bakery and we do not charge a cake cutting fee.
